FAQ on Air Cleaners, Purifiers & Ventilation
Question:
Can't I just purchase an air cleaner that cleans the whole room? Why do I need to capture the fumes and dust at the source?

Answer:
Capturing the fumes and dust from the manicure process directly at the source is the only proven method for effectively removing the highest percentage of airborne contaminants. If you place an air cleaner in the corner of your room, you would need a "jet engine" to pull the heavy fumes and dust over to it. An ambient system, ("Room Air Cleaner") will only filter what gets to it.

Question:
How often do I need to change the filters?

Answer:
This is by far the most common question that is asked. Because nail techs work different hours, the filter may last different lengths of time. We recommend that you clean the prefilter once a week. You can clean the prefilter by taking it out and emptying it out in the garbage. You can also use a Shop-Vac to vacuum it out. DO NOT use water on it! When cleaning the prefilter no longer brings the system's source-capture suction back to a significant level, the prefilter should be replaced.

You should change the carbon in the adsorption module when the odorous fumes are no longer being adequately reduced.

If you are using a Cell filter for gel nail dust, we recommend that you replace the filter when the system's source-capture suction is no longer at a significant level, even after the prefilter and secondary filters have been replaced.

Question:
Can I purchase the filters from the hardware store or do I need to purchase them from you?

Answer:
You will not be able to purchase these filters from your local hardware store. We use a special blend of activated carbon for our adsorption module and high quality filter media for our other filter options.

Question:
How many stations or tables will the Salon Pure Air System handle?

Answer:
We highly recommend using One Salon Pure Air System per table. However, if the stations are with in 5-6 feet apart, one system can be adapted to two tables by using our O031C two inlet cover option. Keep in mind that the performance of the system will be affected somewhat.

Question:
How noisy is the system?

Answer:
The noise level is acceptable for carrying on a conversation. It is does not have an annoying high pitched sound like what comes from a Shop-Vac, hair dryer, or exhaust fan.

Question:
Can the system be laid on its side to better fit into my space?

Answer:
Yes, the system can lie horizontally as well as the typical vertical position. Just make sure that the source-capture extractor arm does not have too many angles and bends.

Question:
Can I leave my Salon Pure Air System running all the time, or will the motor burn out.

Answer:
Yes, you can leave the Salon Pure Air System running all day and night if you wish. One of the many advantages of our system is that we use a high quality, highly balanced motor. This motor has a 10,000 hour continuous duty rating. This means that it could run 24 hours per day 7 days per week for close to 10 years!
